What a Connecticut provisional liquor license tells you

Pending, provisional and final inspection: what each status means for opening day.

The three statuses we use

Pending: an application at the Department of Consumer Protection, often with a final inspection required. Active by provisional: a 90-day license, usually with a final inspection still due. Active: issued.

Why provisional matters

A provisional license with a final inspection due is about as close to opening day as public data gets. That's why it sits at the top of our Connecticut lists.

Keep the scale in mind

Connecticut is small, and this only covers places that will sell alcohol. In a slow two weeks a region might show a handful of new names. We'd rather show you that than pad the list.
